Fundamentals of Solar Energy and its Contribution Towards the Transformation of the Energy Sector

Suyash Siddharth

It is at times like now when our energy requirements are at tremendously high levels more than ever it becomes extensively important to switch over to a sustainable, safe and more reliable source of energy which is both efficient and is also available in abundance. One such source of energy is the Solar Energy which is both efficient and at the same time is present in abundance.

A little something about Solar Energy

As a matter of facts solar energy can be processed and used for the billions of years to come, since it is derived and extracted from the sun which itself has remained in existence for several billions of years and would continue to exist for another several billions of years. Solar Energy is the energy that is extracted from the rays of the sun and further used to produce electricity.

The solar energy extracted from the rays of the sun are trapped and stored in what we call solar panels which are further made up of individual solar cells composed of a fundamental element like Silicon. The requirements of solar cells have increased over the sphere of time. The manufacturing of solar cells is quite a complex procedure and absolute precision has to be ensured in solar cell manufacturing which is pretty much the reason why the cost of Solar Panels is high.

The working principle of Solar Panels

Solar panels or modules as we call them are more like a storehouse where the solar energy is collected and stored and is further used to produce electricity which we use according to our needs. The most typical of all the solar modules that we use are mainly composed of individual solar cells, which are further made of different layers of silicon, boron and phosphorus with each having their own respective roles to play.

The Silicon layer in the panel plays the role of a semiconductor and when the photons the sun rays strike the surface of the panel, it knocks out the electrons from the silicon layer and paves its way into the electric field generated by solar cells which in turn produces directional current which is further harnessed into the forms of usable power. This entire process is termed as the photovoltaic effect, which is why solar panels are also referred to as Photovoltaic Panels or PV panels. And it is in accordance with this principle that solar module manufacturing in India is undertaken.

Among all the Solar module manufacturers, Premier Energies is the one firm that you can rely upon for all your demands of Solar Panels. Premier Energies was established in the year 1995 and they introduced their first ever solar power assembly line with a total capacity of 3 MW p.a. and they have been growing ever since. As of now Premier Energies is an eminent name in the energy industry and they are well known for the methods and work ethics that they adopt in their work.
