The College Learning Resource Center (CLRC) has become the first college library in Luzon that operates until 9 p.m. The extension of the library hours which started November 30, came from a directive given by  De La Salle Lipa (DLSL)  President and Chancellor, Br. Dante Amisola FSC, changing the previous schedule from 7 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. on weekdays. Meanwhile, the Saturday schedule remains at its original time of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. “We want to extend our support to the educational endeavours of our students especially those who have capstones and research projects,” Lilian Rabbi, chief librarian said. According to Rabbi, the allotted time for students in using the CLRC was prolonged because the former schedule was not enough for those who are reviewing for their exams or doing research-related activities. “Through this extension of library hours, we think that we can give sufficient time to students so they can finish all their work through our available materials especially those with late dismissal,” she added. Rabbi shared that clerical assistants or working scholars assigned to the CLRC will not affected with this sudden change and instead they could utilize the extended hours to adjust their duty schedules in the library depending on their availability. “Every night, we have scheduled partners, isang librarian at isang office staff na siyang magbabantay sa LRC because we have no clerical assistants anymore from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.,” Rabino stated. Despite publicizing the information through their posts in their online page and on the daily bulletin, Rabbi said that most students were still not fully aware of the extension. “This extension of library hour is still an ongoing study as we will observe if the students are really utilizing well the extended library time,” Rabbi said. Rabbi explained that such will be their basis on whether they will still continue the new operating schedule of the CLRC.
