The Magic Break Festival, known for its electric energy and vibrant crowds, expanded its horizons in October by bringing its Halloween edition to a brand-new location. For the first time, the festival landed at the impressive Lykia World Resort in Antalya, setting the stage for a Halloween-themed party that attendees won’t soon forget. It was here, amidst a backdrop of spooky décor, incredible costumes, and endless fun, that I, Michiel Ton, alongside my colleague Mark Richter, had the privilege of capturing every mesmerizing moment.

A Magical Halloween at Lykia World Resort

Magic Break Festival had long established itself as a highlight in the festival calendar, but the decision to move the Halloween edition to Antalya elevated the experience to new heights. The Lykia World Resort, a massive all-inclusive venue, proved to be the perfect location for this transformation into "Creepville."

The resort’s vast and diverse spaces allowed the festival organizers to get truly creative with the Halloween theme. From haunted stages to eerie lighting, the atmosphere was a photographer’s dream. Each corner offered something unique, whether it was attendees in imaginative costumes, DJs spinning hauntingly good tracks, or eerie installations that gave the festival a distinct Halloween flavor.

Behind the Lens: Capturing the Festival

Photographing a festival like Magic Break is always an exciting challenge. You never quite know what you’ll capture from moment to moment – it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. This Halloween edition, however, was extra special for me. The spooky, colorful ambiance allowed me to experiment with lighting, shadows, and perspective in ways that I hadn’t been able to at other festivals.

Together with Mark Richter, we flew to Antalya in October, cameras in hand, ready to document the energy and spirit of the festival. Each day of the event gave us new opportunities to capture both the wild, carefree side of the festival-goers and the more intricate details of the hauntingly decorated festival grounds. Every shot had the chance to tell a different story: the energy of the crowd, the vibe of the performances, or the creativity of the costumes.

Final Thoughts

As a photographer, few things are as rewarding as being part of a festival like Magic Break. The Halloween edition in Antalya was a visual feast, and I was thrilled to be able to capture it. Working with Mark Richter and the incredible team behind the festival was a fantastic experience, and I can’t wait to see where Magic Break goes next!
